Importance of Having Mom Devotional Time
Motherhood is the greatest gift given. It also so happens to be the biggest job.
It has it’s ups and it’s downs. You’ve never felt so tired in your entire life, but yet so awake all at the same time. You’ve learned to function with your heart now being on the outside of your body and then you turn around and send your heart off to gymnastics, school etc.
Motherhood has tested your patience and quite honestly, it has probably brought out the worst in you on more than one occasion.
But Motherhood is so beautiful. There is so much beauty in the chaos every single day, even those really tired days! Use these 23 verses to help get you started with filling your spiritual cup back up. Let them serve you as you jump start finding “mom devotional” time in your day!
Encouraging Bible Verses: To Remind You Who Is In Your Corner
I am guilty of trying to take things on myself, are you? Do you ever find yourself spending hours, or even days, worrying or even just trying to think through things? And then you hear it. A little voice reminds you that you don’t need to be taking things on by yourself, and that you are not alone.

This verse is such a simple reminder that we often overcomplicate life. When you are tired, rest. Remember that you have the ultimate tool in your life to help you wade through whatever it is that you need to wade through. God is all you need.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you- 1Peter 5:7
This verse reminds you that you are not alone; that you do not need to face things on your own.
Refuse to let the world corrupt you- James 1:27
How do you feel when you are tired? I can become grouchy, doubtful and let the negativity stack up in my mind. It has taken some practice to be conscious to stop, take a deep breath and step away from it. When you feel tired, the devil sees his opening and always seems to try and make things appear and feel even worse since often times when we are tired we can feel vulnerable. This verse reminds us that even the affect of feeling tired is
He sees you and you matter -Matthew 9:20-22
As a mom, you are surrounded by someone constantly but during these seasons of life where tired is your normal, it sure feels a bit lonely. Like no one sees all the things of the world stacked up around you. Thankfully He DOES see you and He does cares for you! This short and simple verse is a wonderful affirmation to write on your bathroom mirror if you are feeling alone right now 😊.
Encouraging Bible Verses: Remember to Rest
How easy is it to just keep going? To keep moving through your list of things to do and convince yourself that you have to get it all done? You and a few other million Moms in this world are fighting the same feeling.
However, it is important to slow down and remember, God wants you to rest. I mean, he created an entire day for us to rest after all!
So, here are just a few reminders that you do in fact, need to rest!
The Lord gives sleep to those he loves- Psalms 127:2
The best gift ever to any mom, especially of little ones, is sleep! How beautiful that we are reminded of the importance of rest in this verse.
And when they sleep, they will wake up refreshed- Jeremiah 31:26
How beautiful that we are reminded of the importance of rest in this verse.
I sleep and wake up refreshed because you Lord protect me- Psalm 3:5
Have you ever felt like sleep is the ‘easy’ thing to push off when you have a lot going on? That sleep can be reduced to give you more time in your day? It takes faith to put your head on your pillow, cast your anxieties on to him and sleep. Next time you are struggling with this, be reminded of this Psalm and that the Lord is here to keep working even while we rest.
And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good- Romans 12:11
He speaks promises that he will carry us when we are tired, that he will give us safety and rest. Be assured that these promises will carry you through all times. Never stop doing what is good or doing good in the name of the Lord.
Encouraging Bible Verses: When You Feel Challenged
Motherhood can bring on an entirely new set of challenges! Anytime you face a challenge, refer to these verses to have your spirit lifted:

For some reason, when I approach these feelings from this perspective, I see myself in an entire new light and I hope you do too!
The Lord is greater than the giants you face- 1 John 4:4
How often do you feel like you can’t possibly overcome a problem? And then somehow it works out 😊. Do yourself a favor and stop stressing and start praying! Don’t forget that He is here to fight for us and we do not have to do it alone.
The pain that you’ve been feeling, can’t compare to the joy that is coming-Romans 8:18
Next time life feels like it is filling up around you and you can’t quite see the reason for the pain, recall this verse and focus on the beautiful joy headed your way. You may not be able to see it yet, but this verse tells us joy is coming!
He has made everything beautiful in it’s time- Ecclesiastes 3:11
This is one I often have to refer back to. His timing, not mine. His timing, not mine-and repeat! This verse is one that needs to be highlighted in our mom devotional to do a few times a year. Since I think most moms are used to being “in control”, we need the friendly reminder (and often) that His timing is better than ours.
Faith does not make things easy, it makes them possible-Luke 1:37
Being a working mom is tough. As a result, this verse sits on a cute little sign on my desk at work. I look at it often throughout the week and smile because while it is technically just a little sign, it feels like in those moments it totally acts like a mom devotional moment!
Now then stand still and see this great thing the Lord is about to do before your eyes!- 1 Samuel 12:16
Stand still. How good are you at standing still? Especially if you see something needs to be done or a problem needs to be solved, can you stand still? I have had to work hard at standing still and allowing the Lord to work in my life and it has been a wonderful path to take!
Encouraging Bible Verses For Overwhelming Times
What does it feel like when you are overwhelmed? Does it feel good? Personally, I hate feeling overwhelmed.
How often do you feel overwhelmed? Is it more often than you would like to feel this way?
Feeling overwhelmed feels helpless- like you have little to no control, more to do than you can manage, and stressful. I have learned over the years of motherhood that if you are feeling overwhelmed, something needs to change.
As a result, here are some of my favorite bible verses for overwhelming times. I think every mom devotional needs to have these ones highlighted!

This is a good reminder to pause, recall to mind what is most important in your life and remember that God doesn’t want you to live an overwhelmed life.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak- Isaiah 40:29
When you feel overwhelmed do you feel defeated? Do you feel helpless? Let this verse serve as a reminder that when you feel this way, you need to turn to Him because he will deliver you the strength you need. Make sure and highlight this one so you can refer back during your mom devotional time!
You feel hopeless because there’s so much despair in the world. Remember that you are in the world and not of the world. The Holy Spirit within you can stir up hope if you will believe in the sovereignty of God in spite of the wickedness of the world- Pslam 42:5
Let this verse remind you how important it is to separate yourself (and your reactions) to what is going on around you. I am the first to admit that it can be easy to get caught up in things, but good rarely comes from that! Take a step back, look within and allow yourself to be reminded of the goodness that comes from the Holy Spirit. To help you gain more self control in this area, check out these bible verses.
Encouraging Bible Verses to Start Your Morning With
When do you fit in the time to spend with God? I love to start my mornings with prayer journaling before the kids wake. This has become my favorite process to connect with the Lord and has honestly made the biggest impact on my relationship with God.
It hasn’t always been this way though. In fact, when I first started to fill my spiritual cup back up, trying to fit in the time was a challenge. If you find you are in that same bucket, read about my journey to finding time to fit in self-care, aka mom devotional time, every day.
His mercies renew every morning-Lamentations 3:22-24
Thank goodness! I don’t know about you, but I am thankful that this happens, how reassuring it is to know His love never runs out.
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it- Psalm 118:24
It is simple, every day is a day to be grateful. Don’t take a day for granted, especially as mom! Kids grow fast and there is no better gift to give our children than the gift of being present with them. If you feel like it is hard to connect with them while also trying to balance life, check out these ways you can connect with your kids on even busy days!
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven- Matthew 5:16
One of the ways we can make Him joyful is to walk in his word, no greater way than letting our actions and words represent Him.
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you in entrust my life- Psalm 143:8
One of the best ways to start the day is by putting your day in His hands. As you wake, ask him to show you the way for that day. The next morning, repeat.

In motherhood we can easily be distracted by all the busyness around us. I put together this simple prayer and mini devotion around this prayer specifically to remind us moms that being busy is NOT a badge of honor.
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing- 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Love one another. Help one another. Build each other up. He makes things pretty simple for us and this is a perfect verse to remind yourself in the morning, before you head out into the world how important it is to be an encourager to others.
